Energy consumption - CIC Group believes in efficient use of energy, and is committed to reducing consumption wherever possible. The company strives to optimize its energy usage, and also takes steps to use renewable energy sources where it can. The company has a road map to move towards Solar energy. This effort can also serve to solve other environmental issues, as seen in our agriculture sector where paddy husks, a waste material from the production process, is used as a fuel source.
Water consumption - CIC Group believes in using water efficiently, and is well aware of the need to optimize its usage, being a predominant player in the agriculture industry. The consumption of water is taken very seriously particularly in the agriculture sector, and output per litre of waste is one indicator used when measuring the viability of any crop in our farms.
Waste management - CIC Group is aware and mindful of the liquid and solid substances that are emitted into the environment as a result of its operations, in the form of effluents and waste. The Company has taken necessary steps to improve the quality and quantity of these substances before they are discharged into the environment. Furthermore, many subsidiaries within the Group wherever possible are reusing and recycling their solid waste either in their own product processes, or through third parties.
Biodiversity - CIC Group as a policy, strives to ensure that biodiversity in any habitat interacted with by our operations, is protected and nourished. Maintaining the delicate balance of Sri Lanka’s biodiversity is of utmost concern to us, and we strive to ensure that this is not affected by our operations. In fact, we take active steps to promote biodiversity, particularly across the eco-systems prevalent on our farms, where green zones are in place to ensure that biodiversity thrives.

CIC FEEDS Group successfully completed a CSR project of renovating a state-owned Nursery Pre-school at Amunuwela village in Kuliyapitiya area as a part of celebrating the 60-year anniversary of CIC Holdings PLC.
The handover ceremony was held on 10th September 2024. Mr. Aroshan Seresinhe, Group Chief Executive Officer – CIC Holdings PLC graced the event together with the CIC Feeds Group CEO Mr. Ajith Weerasinghe & the Divisional Secretary of Kuliyapitiya. Mr. Aruna Jayasekara – Group Head of HR - CIC Holdings PLC and many other distinguished delegates including government officers in the area and few senior members of CIC Feeds Group were present at the ceremony.
CIC’s Agri Cluster teamed up to spearhead a couple of CSR initiatives that touched the hearts of rural students in Polonnaruwa and Hingurakgoda. The Cluster which comprises CIC AgriBusinesses, CIC Seeds, CropGuard ,Uni Power and Crop Solutions business unit provided clean drinking water to the Sungavila Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Polonnaruwa and Hingurakgoda Kanishta Vidyalaya.The need for clean drinking water for the students of both schools was a long felt need to which the Agri Cluster responded by providing the RO Plant, 1000 L Storage Tank, and adequate Drinking points (Taps) .The smiles on the faces of the children on that day was evidence for the appreciation of this noble deed.
Hingurakgoda Kanishta Vidyalaya was also the recipient of a Smart Class room from the Agri Cluster. Apart from the Led Panel,UPS,Surge Protection Unit , new furniture was also provided while a full refurbishment of the classroom was done to complete the CSR initiative. Polonnaruwa District Government Agent Mr W A Dharmasiri presided as the Chief Guest.
Chemanex PLC donated computers to the Wagawatta Tamil Kanishta Vidyalaya in Thummodara as a part of their CSR initiative of empowering students through Computer Literacy.
CIC Agri Businesses has pledged Rs Five Million to adopt 1990 Suweseriya Ambulances and thereby Save Lives. The Ambulances will be deployed in designated areas of the Country, providing critical medical assistance to those in need thereby enhancing the emergency healthcare services in the island.
